appliance bays, new fire station
Stage 1
Five new appliance bays were built by City Construction in 2002 while the existing bay remained operational. All communications and power supplies were re-routed to temporary accommodation for the duration of the project.
Stage 2
A new administration building encompassing 50 rooms was built in 2004. The demolition of the old building included various challenges - salvaging stained glass windows, bells and fireman poles for inclusion in the new block and removing three layers of foundations constructed on top of each other.
